Byrum & Fisk announces new hire in Grand Rapids

Sydney SmithByrum & Fisk Advocacy Communications is pleased to announce the addition of Communications Strategist Sydney Smith, who comes to Byrum & Fisk with a background in journalism, storytelling and digital communications.

“Sydney will play an integral role on our team, helping our clients share their news through creative storytelling and digital strategies,” said Mark Fisk, partner at Byrum & Fisk. “Her connections in West Michigan, expertise in print and online journalism and background in reporting on business, real estate, economic development, government and higher education will be a major asset to our team.”

Smith is a former reporter for MiBiz, where she covered real estate and economic development for both print and online formats. She also previously worked for The Holland Sentinel as the municipal reporter, and The Times Herald in Port Huron as a crime and courts reporter.

Smith brings a range of knowledge from her past reporting experience, including policy, government, real estate, economic development and more. She has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Central Michigan University.
