Whyte Joins Byrum & Fisk as Communications Strategist
LANSING — Byrum & Fisk Advocacy Communications, a Michigan strategic communications and public relations firm, is excited to announce the addition of Dana Whyte to its team as a Communications Strategist.
Whyte is an award-winning journalist and communicator with a wide range of experience in storytelling, crisis communications, marketing, social media and more.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dana to our team to help support our clients,” said Mark Fisk, partner at Byrum & Fisk. “Dana brings a magnitude of experience in both journalism and communications and she will be a true asset to our firm and the amazing clients we proudly serve.”
Before joining the firm, Whyte served as communications manager and spokesperson for the Michigan State University Department of Police and Public Safety (MSU DPPS) for more than two years, leading all strategic communication initiatives for the agency.
Whyte played a pivotal role in developing and fostering the department’s relationship with the media, including leading the department’s communication efforts during a fatal shooting on campus in February 2023.
“I’m excited to bring my unique skillset to Byrum & Fisk to help our clients achieve their communications goals,” Whyte said. “I am looking forward to growing my career with the team of seasoned communications strategists at Byrum & Fisk.”
Prior to working at MSU, Dana served as a television news reporter for four years. She worked for both WOOD-TV8 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and WLNS-TV in Lansing, Michigan, covering historic events such as the coronavirus pandemic, the Black Lives Matter movement, and the 2020 Presidential Election.
Dana received her bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University in Broadcast & Cinematic Arts and her master’s degree from Michigan State University in Strategic Communication.
