LANSING — Byrum & Fisk Advocacy Communications, a Michigan public relations firm, is excited to announce the addition of Chris Gautz to its team as a Communications Strategist.

Gautz has nearly 20 years of award-winning communications experience, ranging from reporting on community news, courts and schools, to covering the state legislature, multiple governors and members of Congress.

“Chris brings a wealth of experience and talent, and his skill set will help our wide variety of clients,” said Mark Fisk, partner at Byrum & Fisk. “His deep knowledge of state politics and his reporting background on energy and education issues, combined with his years of experience with crisis communications are a true asset.”

Prior to joining Byrum & Fisk, Gautz served as the head of communications for the Michigan Department of Corrections, where he and his team won numerous awards for their internal and external communication efforts. Before that he was a reporter for Crain’s Detroit Business, Gongwer News Service, The Jackson Citizen Patriot, the South Bend Tribune and The Daily Telegram. As a reporter he won multiple awards for feature writing, investigative reporting and his news coverage.

“I am truly excited about this opportunity to join this talented firm and help our clients tell their stories and achieve their goals,” Gautz said. “I have always had a deep respect for the great work done by Byrum & Fisk, and I am honored to have the chance to join them and get to work for our clients.”

He earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Central Michigan University.

Chris lives in Adrian with his wife and three children. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, attempting to play the guitar, listening to podcasts, shuttling his kids to and from sports practices and school events, and in the summer, yelling angrily in the woods, or as some call it, golf.
