Alana Ivey is a communications strategist at Byrum & Fisk. She comes to the firm as an award-winning journalist for broadcast television for 12 years.

She previously served as weekday anchor and health reporter for WZZM 13 ON YOUR SIDE in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she gained trust from the West Michigan Community. She began her journalism career in Mid-Michigan at WNEM TV5 in Saginaw-Flint. Throughout her career, she covered everything from local government, public policy, the Flint Water Crisis, elections, community initiatives, health and human-interest stories.

Alana received a regional Emmy Award in 2026 for her work highlighting a woman sharing her story with an intersex condition. She also has four other nominations from the Michigan Chapter of the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences. She also won Media Person of the Year in 2025 from the West Michigan Public Relations Society of America. In 2021, she won a Merit award for Best Reporter from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from Grand Valley State University with majors in broadcasting and journalism. During her college career, she studied abroad in London to study theater.

Alana calls Michigan home. She grew up in Northern Michigan, previously worked in Mid-Michigan and now lives with her family in the Grand Rapids area. She enjoys reading, gardening, baking and hosting dinner parties.
